About Bazaar Velvet

From a young age, Bazaar Velvet founder Christopher Mould was drawn to the enchanting world of rugs. At just sixteen, he had the honour of supplying his first antique rug to a magnificent highland castle. This experience shaped his entire career.

By 22, he had already become a director in the largest rug retailer in the UK. His vast knowledge and innate ability to recognize exceptional rugs led him to take charge of purchasing – a responsibility which took him on incredible journeys to Iran, Turkey, India, Pakistan, and Morocco. It was during these travels that he immersed himself in the rich tapestry of hand-knotting, learning from local producers about the artistry, the different types of wool, and the unique techniques used in each country. Today, after 37 years, his love for this trade burns as brightly as ever.
