What is Effetto?

Effetto is an online marketplace providing access to the world’s finest antique, vintage and contemporary design. With thousands of pieces from vetted sellers across the globe, the marketplace is the essential destination for high-end furniture and collectibles. As a family-run business, we put relationships at the heart of the marketplace, fostering transparency and open communication – meaning once you’ve found your perfect piece, you can connect directly with the seller to discuss the item and purchase on your own terms.

How do offers work?

If a seller is open to an offer on a specific item, you will find a field on the enquiry form allowing to you submit an offer (NB: not every item will have this available). A seller can accept, decline, or reply with a counter offer (and Effetto is not involved in these negotiations, which are solely between the buyer and the seller). Offers are capped, with the maximum reduction being 35%. We advise requesting a discount of no more than 10%–20% for an offer to be accepted.

Can I request to put items on hold?

Yes. Please check the relevant box within the "email seller" form when contacting a seller about an item. This feature can be found on every product page.

How do I manage my account information?

Accepted Answer

Once logged in, you can manage your account information in your account settings. You can access this information by clicking your name/person icon at the top right of the page in the header.

How do I change and reset my password?

You can change your password in your account settings, which are accessed by clicking your name/person icon at the top right of the page in the header. You can also change your password via the login form.

Can I browse in different currencies?

You can choose your preffered currency in your user account settings once you're logged in. We support UK pounds (£), US dollars ($) or euros (€).

How do I contact a seller?

You can message/email a seller via a product page or the seller's storefront. You will also find their full contact details (including phone numbers) on these pages, too, enabling you to communicate directly with an expert without needing to go through a call centre.

What are the shipping methods and costs?

Accepted Answer

Shipping is organised by the individual sellers, so please contact them for details. Effetto cannot provide a list of estimated costs as there are so many variables, including shipping location, size, weight, value, and type of service.However, shipping quotations and terms can be requested via the check-box on the product page. Please note that Effetto does not offer insurance or customer support for shipping as these are the responsibility of the sellers and any arrangements they agree with the buyer.

Can I transact through the platform?

Effetto is a non-transactional platform: we do not take a commission on sales and we don't stand between a buyer and a seller. This means you can enquire directly with a seller as well as transact directly with them.

Is there a trade programme for designers?

Not yet, although more trade-friendly features are available including tools to create tear-sheets and favourite-seller lists and more.

Is there a set trade discount?

No, as all discounts are directly negotiable with the individual sellers. You can make an offer on items that list the facility (see above: How do offers work?).

How are sellers vetted and where are they located?

Sellers are strategically located around the world. Invitations to founding sellers are qualified against numerous metrics, including longevity of business, area of expertise, quality of inventory, fair attendance and retail location. By doing so, we deliver a marketplace unrivaled in trust, engagement and transparency, while also giving you a huge selection of antique, vintage, and contemporary design.

Can I apply to be a seller on the platform?

No. New memberships are offered strictly by invitation only.

We are based in the UK, although our sellers are based across the globe, with most in the United States, United Kingdom and European Union. Most of our sellers offer global shipping – you can see shipping details on their dedicated storefront page.
