This vintage 3x5 Persian rug is a rare mid-century Baluch tribal piece, hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.
This design enjoys a pictorial of former Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi of Iran, as well as Iranian flags, animals, and a crown. Its borders favor rich burgundy that plays naturally with the brighter blues in its wide variety of colors and finely detailed patterns. It’s an extremely collectible piece of history, and an exemplar of Persian tribal folk art in its detail alone.
